18 Mill Street is a unique multi-use space that is home to The Lash Nook and other beauty artists. It was conceived by Kara Miles, the owner of The Lash Nook, and is designed to bring women together to celebrate and empower each other. Not only will we be hosting our own events, but you can too! The rental space is available for a variety of bookings, including bridal suites, birthday parties, networking events, art shows, and classes.
This 900+ square foot space is open-concept, industrial and flooded with natural light. Located in downtown Carleton Place near many local shops, restaurants, and the Mississippi River, it's perfect for micro weddings. Yes, we do weddings!
Our space is a blank canvas that allows for 100% personalization for each booking. You have complete flexibility in choosing the decor, catering, and other services for your event. We encourage you to choose outside providers that align with your taste and preferences.

FAQs
How do I confirm my booking?
In order to confirm & secure your 18 Mill Street date, a signed contract and total amount is required within 72 hours. Included in the fee is a non-refundable retainer of 50%. Clients will not pay damage deposits, but will place a credit card on file, to be charged in the instance that damage occurs during the event. We accept cash, debit/credit & cheques.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations within 21 days of the booking will be charged the full venue rental. We offer a credit option for cancelled bookings within this time frame. The booking retainer is non-refundable.
Is there parking available?
Parking is not included in the venue rental fee, however there is plenty of free street parking.
What is the capacity for events?
Capacity is determined on a case by case basis, and dose not include vendors such as a photographer, etc. At any one time, 30 people is a comfortable maximum capacity.
Do I need insurance?
Clients who are conducting business and/or booking for an open door event, must obtain and show proof of general liability insurance, and must list ‘18 Mill Street’ as additionally insured. This does not apply for individuals booking private events.
What are the decor rules for the building?
All decor must be free standing, ie nothing can be taped, stapled or nailed to the walls. All decorations must be removed immediately after the event. Candles must be enclosed in a votive. LED candles are preferred. Pre-approved decorations hung from ceiling must be removed by event organizers. No dry ice, smoke machines, or loose materials such as confetti, or glitter. Ensure everything is removed carefully and thoughtfully.
What if I need additional time for set up and tear down?
Our half and full day rentals include a 1 hour set up and 30 minute tear down. Please inquire otherwise.
Can alcohol be served?
18 Mill Street is not a licensed venue, so clients are able to purchase their own alcohol for their event with a Special Events Permit.
Can I rent on a Sunday or holiday?
Yes, we allow bookings on both Saturday’s and Sunday’s. Holidays can be booked on a case by case basis. Please inquire about weekday’s!
